Blue Lights is a Belfast-set police drama following response officers as they navigate work, personal relationships and the communities they serve. The opening series introduces Grace Ellis, Annie Conlon and Tommy Foster as recruits.
The show was made for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with BritBox carrying it in relevant international markets. It did not originate as a BritBox-only production. Where you can watch depends on your country and the series you want.
Who is in the main cast?
BritBox’s official production information lists Siân Brooke as Grace, Katherine Devlin as Annie, Nathan Braniff as Tommy and Martin McCann as Stevie. Their working relationships form a continuing part of the drama rather than resetting completely with each episode.
The premise combines response calls with longer-running criminal and personal stories. That makes watching in order more useful than selecting isolated episodes from later series. Programme descriptions for later seasons can themselves reveal earlier outcomes.
Is series two still forthcoming?
No. The earlier wording on this page treating series two as an upcoming 2025 release is outdated. Co-producer Gallagher Films’ news archive documents the 2024 second series and the return of series four in autumn 2026.
That production history should not be confused with the date a particular international service adds a season. BBC and BritBox releases can follow different schedules, and an announcement for Canada does not establish availability in every other market.
How to find the correct viewing route
For the UK, begin with BBC’s official programme search or iPlayer. For a BritBox territory, use that country’s official BritBox catalogue. Check the season selector and episode list before starting a subscription specifically for this title.
A subscription purchased directly from a service can differ from one purchased through a platform channel. If you subscribe through Amazon, Apple or Roku, check that provider’s own listing and billing terms. Do not assume an account created in one route unlocks every other route.
Watching on a television or Roku
First confirm that your subscription provider supports your device and region. Then use its official app or channel and the sign-in method it specifies. This is more reliable than following a universal installation sequence, because app availability and subscription arrangements change.
If the title is missing, establish whether the issue is the country catalogue, season availability or the account used for that channel. A generic promise of a free trial is not evidence that your account qualifies for one.
Fiction and realism
The series uses a recognisable setting, but it is scripted drama. Individual scenes should not be treated as a guide to real police procedure or as evidence about a particular community.
For another series built around a precinct and its leadership, see our East New York episode guide. Its American setting and story are distinct from Blue Lights; neither series offers a factual account of everyday policing.
